[KENYABIRDSNET] Chicks in Nairobi National Park
Greetings birdersNairobi National Park was all green this Sunday morning, 7 March bronzed
green with flowering grasses in the northwest, and vivid green with new
grass in the southeast, against a magnificent backdrop of white and grey
clouds.

We saw a few White Storks on the way past Soy Sambu this weekend.....not40,000. However, in Nakuru Park when we arrived at Naishi on Friday evening
there were a few thousand festooning the trees by the Guest House, airstrip
and campsite. They were impossible to count as they were so dispersed.

The group returned over the border from Tanzania at Lunga Lunga on

Dear all,Johan and I are enroute to a birding tour commencing this last Sunday in
Nakuru NP.
Here are the highlights from Nakuru :

Hello to you All.On Friday 19th Feb. while in Lake Bogoria I saw a flock of over
300 White Storks circling above us up in the air. They are moving northwards
indeed.

another report in these .The Hopcrafts who have a farm on the north shore of Lake Naivasha, just
below green park , told us that there were upto 1000 White Storks in
their fields last week .
Heather , Karen and I went to see, on Friday . We saw upto 300 around

Just a quick note re birds at Lake Nakuru Nat park on 20th /21st Feb thislast few days
Huge numbers 5000+ of White Storks feeding up for 2-3 days before
pre-migration flights north. Perhaps only 100+ Woolly Necked storks.
Very few Flamingoes at all, less than 50,000. No White Pelicans at all.

Just back from the Tana River Delta and waterbird counts there. Water levelsin the river were very low compared to the previous four years that we've
done it and this was reflected in the lack of crakes and rails and very few

Hi James,I think that I already mentioned to you that I had one Magpie Starling at
Soita Nyiro Conservancy (SNC) on 10 May 09...feeding on Ewaso Nyiro River
edge under that big Ficus sycamorus at Ol Gaboli Lodge.
One Golden-breasted Starling at Ewaso Nyiro R. on 6 Sept. 09....during
